Rager commentary : TypeScript is just a useless language. You can documentary your class/method/function. The "security" from typing is a joke (particuly in TS). So, you have SO MANY others languages with good features... why you code in TS.

I worked with all the major frameworks, AngularJS, Angular 2, React and recently Vue. Except from Vue 3 with composition API, none even get close to match svelte in terms of being pleasant, simple and easy to work with. Svelte really was a great discovery and in the past 4 years i've been using it and advocating it very hard in all my workplaces.

If shared hosting started to support node, I think that websites with PHP would start to disappear over time. Today, every hosting supports PHP whether it is a shared hosting or not. Node only has the disadvantage that the client is forced to buy a VPS or AWS to deploy the application... That's why Wordpress is so well-known because hostings allow you to install those spaghetti codes from wordpress cms with one click, if hosting companies would do this on node where some cms is installed that can be done the same way as wordpress with node, it would be interesting for the PHP community.

Late to this, but it was really refreshing hearing people from Microsoft address directly the mistrust many of us had back around the time TypeScript was announced. My guess at the time was that TypeScript was just a way for Microsoft to keep Visual Studio relevant for people doing JavaScript. At the time, trying to do "plain" JS in Visual Studio was horrible - like worse than just raw dogging it with Notepad (or as was mentioned, SublimeText). It was really the introduction of the TypeScript language server that deserves special mention. Even today, pretty much every editor (even Vim!) works with TypeScript - and Visual Studio is still about the worst. ;)

I think a lot of time gets wasted writing languages at the microscopic memory-object level. "A=1+1" . So now we have "let a: number = 1 + 1;" and it is 5 times longer. Just memory management. In the old days we had dBASE and FoxPRO and we could use BROWSE or REPORT FORM INVOICE TO PRINTER or EDIT RECORD RECCOUNT() and it was WAY faster to get something meaningful done in the business application world. We need commands like that FOR THE WEB nowadays. I believe the industry is intentionally trying to keep programmer productivity LOW so that it always takes LARGE TEAMS to get anything meaningful done, and the barrier to entry is HIGH. I never forgive Microsoft for trying to abandon FoxPRO. Their motto is "Microsoft, Microsoft, Microsoft, Microsoft!" Definitely NOT "Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers."

I just started web development using WordPress in 2018 and began web programming last year. I'm looking for the stack of PHP or JS to delve on. I like the way of coding in PHP because, like VB, it's more friendly. One more thing is that you can still use the basic foundation of web programming integrating PHP, JS, HTML and CSS. Later on, I found this Laravel and it was so interesting!!! I love it.

Php was a language that came earlier than its time. If php came after ruby or node it would have been revolutionary because of its ease of use. Look at JavaScript with all the complexity and complications people love it because they feel that complicated means sophistication.

Yeah that's why I did not listen to the jackasses at this start up in the Bay Area who insisted I use JetBrains, no thanks, I use VS Code and have been doing so since at least 2019. When one of you more junior developers get a job and some jackass is insisting you use anything but VS Code, throw this video at them and if that is not enough, find another job, its inappropriate for people you just met to be telling you what tools to use anyway, you use what has been working for you.
